Senior Estimator

Position:           Sr. Estimator/Purchasing Agent

Sr. Estimator

Required Education:

  • B.S./B.A. in construction related discipline or equivalent combination of technical training and construction experience

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction
  • History of securing successful design-build, design-bid-build, and CM at Risk projects

Technical Skills:

  • Possess a complete understanding of all construction systems, cost estimating and budgeting, and delivery methods
  • Working knowledge of material unit costs, system square foot costs, and total building square foot costs
  • Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions, and work to provide a complete project cost evaluation
  • Must be aggressive in providing innovative solutions to complex issues as they arise related to cost, lead times, trade partners, and/or specified products and materials
  • Ability to make reliable predictions as it relates to cost and be comfortable estimating across all scopes of work
  • Ability to prepare detailed estimates and, as the design evolves, develop variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies throughout; and for projects up to $30 million
  • Proficient with Estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite programs; and ability to learn new programs quickly; experience with On-Screen Take-off a plus

  • Professionally communicate, both written and verbal, with Owners, Architects/Engineers, and Subcontractors with positive results; for Owners that means being viewed as someone who is a true advocate of the Owner and can be relied upon; for Architects/Engineers that means being viewed as a collaborator who is a positive influence on the team; for Subcontractors that means being viewed as a fair resource and contact in the Subcontractor’s attempt to secure new business
  • Ability to effectively lead the preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the customer/owner
  • Proven ability to manage, lead, and develop team members

Organizational Skills:

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task to consistently meet deadlines
  • Advanced organizational skills and great attention to detail to prepare accurate estimates
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Other:

  • Existing knowledge of market conditions and subcontractors in our market preferred
  • Seeking a professional with a positive attitude and have a proven track record of success, stability, and longevity in their work experience

Required Education:

  • B.S./B.A. in construction related discipline or equivalent combination of technical training and construction experience

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of commercial construction experience
  • Minimum of one year of purchasing experience

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience managing scopes of work with construction subcontractors
  • Basic understanding of construction and contract law, and contract terms
  • Ability to negotiate the terms of, and monitor the execution and modification of, all subcontracts, from bidding through contract signature
  • Full understanding of insurance products, including CCIP, and risk management strategies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly learn software programs

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the profile of a Bandy Person
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with key employees of subcontractors and material supply firms
  • Advanced negotiation skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Organizational Skills:

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task to consistently meet deadlines
  • Advanced organizational skills and great attention to detail to maintain accurate databases of construction costs, labor rates, etc.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Other:
